Nyalic® Ironwork Corrosion Protection

When exposed to moisture, iron rusts. If a piece of ironwork is to be exposed to corrosive elements, then the wrought ironwork must be carefully protected to prevent corrosion. And welding creates yet another set of corrosion problems. How does a smith protect his work from rust? With great difficulty. Every smith knows that there are many, many ways to try to protect his ironwork. Galvanizing, beeswax, motor oil, paint, linseed oil and many other ways have been, and are, used in an attempt to protect his work.
For the most part, the issue is moisture. Anything left on the surface – slag, film left behind from using coal, flux that leaves a film – tends to absorb moisture leading to corrosion. Painted surfaces suffer from this phenomenon and end up flaking or peeling. An acid can develop when moisture mixes with sulphur impurities, and this acid is a quick trip to rust. Even galvanizing and powder coating have issues. But there is help. Nyalic.

Nyalic anti-rust coating for iron is a thin-film, solvent-borne resin. This anti-corrosion coating is used in all types of highly corrosive industrial environments to protect bare metals, painted surfaces, galvanized metals and much more. It can be applied directly to ironwork to provide protection, but Nyalic is best used over the top of paint or galvanized surfaces. Nyalic anti-corrosion coating is often used to first coat wrought iron, allowed to cure, then painted over with the painted surface hen being top-coated with more Nyalic.
Nyalic anti-rust coating is clear and does not give wrought iron a “plastic” look. A Nyalic-coated surface is easy to clean. Any damage of the Nyalic film is easily repaired by cleaning the damaged area, drying the surface and using an aerosol can of Nyalic to touch up the affected area. Nyalic is effective in providing corrosion protection from all sorts of corrosive elements, including salts and fertilizer.
